About Dr. Foster

Dr. Sylvia Foster is a board-certified psychiatrist who has been practicing in both the private sector and the hospital setting for over 25 years. She graduated from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, now Drexel University, and went on to complete her residency in adult psychiatry and fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the same institution. 

Immediately following her residency, Dr. Foster became the Director of Psychiatric Emergency Services at MCP/Drexel. After her time there she ran her own private practice while serving as the Director of Geriatric Psychiatry at Girard Medical Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Foster then stepped down from Girard, dissolving her private practice to become the Medical Director of Forensic Services for The Delaware State Hospital. She then became the Medical Director of Meadowood Hospital, where she is currently a contract physician, covering weekends.

She makes use of her experience, along with her innate empathic approach to understand her patients as a whole, allowing for the most accurate diagnoses and treatment.

Dr. Foster encourages her patients to express their thoughts and concerns, thus promoting personal growth through the use of both psychotherapy and medication.

Dr. Foster personally responds to patient phone calls and messages, providing in-person or telemedicine health care.
